Massive Battle Results

Looks like the unholy alliance of Hobknob and Cestvel were responsible for the slow turns this go around. An attack was made upon an ally of mine and oops....... I had one of my fleets there waiting. The sides were fairly evenly matched at around 250 Billion tons each, but the results were a bit one sided. I regret the lives lost on the 430 million tons of ships of mine that were destroyed and I grieve for the families of those that were utterly destroyed on the invading fleet.

Side Note: Bo - despite the results, I do have to give you Kudos for a good plan - I'm pretty sure I know what/how you did it, getting a fleet that size unnoticed into a picketed system was inspired.

Now that things have been resolved I can say that it was truly unfortunate that the game system failed us at some point.

For those at home, the battle of over 600B tons was reversed and fleets returned to start due to a game malfunction over several turns. I would also say that I have been in the system since the first attack on the HW some months ago so I would not say that the system has been picketed since then.

Until next time,

bo

Ehh , I think all of us " little " guys have gotten used to it . Let them rerun the battle and use 20 hours . The obese bat has been threatening me with my demise anyway , so if he loses a hundred or two hundred billion tons , I won't weep too much ......

I think you mean fortunate for you after such a one-sided devastating loss, but it doesn't really matter. .... While it does give you a little advantage to see how inferior your ship design is, it won't change the outcome. Since we greatly increased the defending forces this past turn, you'll really need to bring some real tonnage to have a snowballs chance. So come on over, it will be fun to get to destroy you again. Seriously, for you to have a sporting chance you need to up your game and bring over Trillions of tons - win or lose, its not much fun when there is no challenge.

the morbidly obese bat won't like that :python:

Good Morning - whiney baby! Doesn't bother me in the least, just means I get to kick his butt again.

Funny - you think 200 Billion tons of ships means much, even the highly unlikely loss of 200 Billion tons is just a drop in the bucket - not material.

Why don't you come join the fun? I'm sure Bo or Marcus would give you directions and welcome the help of such a badass as yourself

The thought of trillion ton fleets is really not very appealing with the fuel cap. I would love to build several 200B tons ships but they wouldn't get to far once built. If Pete gets that fixed I will certainly up my tonnage.

True, the fuel cap is very limiting - that's the only reason the ORI still exist, not worth the orders to get there or build all the Wormholes required. I'm sincere when I tell you that you should just go home unless you can bring at least 3 trillion tons to the battle to have a sporting chance, with equal tonnage we lost one capital ship and you lost everything (275 Billion tons - 6300% higher losses). I tripled my commitment to DIE's defense which is enough to easily overwhelm your restored 275 Billion ton force, but when you take into account his formidable planetary defenses, you'll just be throwing away your fleet again. Obviously it will not bother me to destroy you again, but I certainly prefer to at least have a battle that is entertaining over a turkey shoot.

Game malfunction over several turns??? I'm assuming this 'malfunction' has been corrected yes?

Very disheartening to hear of a problem so big that it required the return of such large fleets

My understanding is that for a couple of turns Alien Fleet Sightings weren't always occurring. I do not know the extent of the problem, I had plenty of sightings every turn but none for anyone that was PAP'd War status, which of course is the ones your really need to see.

Well, we spent numerous turns over the world in question and there was no indication that there were defenses or fleets anywhere. These were the suicide ships sent in to test these things. In fact we could have dropped a beacon and troops without any need for taking on the orbital defenses, but that would not have been sporting now would it. It was pretty surprising to move the main fleet in and find over 100B tons of PDF that should not have been able to hide from previous turns probes.

As to the tonnage it will take to clear you out, I think you are a bit off. If you continue to build PDF's every turn it will eventually get to the point where a Trillion ton fleet is required, but it will be a very long time indeed before there is the need for any more than that.

I'm surprised that you publicly admit that you KNEW there was a reporting issue for "Numerous turns" without letting Pete know. I guess you were just trying to exploit the bug just like the PA which you condemned for such actions; only to cry about it to Pete when it didn't work to your advantage. If you had landed troops through the exploit, just be the same disappointment for you of being crushed - the only difference would be I don't think you could whine to Pete and get the troops back.

Go ahead, keep thinking that you don't need Trillions of tons NOW - it just makes squashing you again much easier.

Umm he did say it was a probe right? This would to the casual observer like me to indicate that he wanted to 'probe ' to see what was there no? When the probes indicated nada then a move was made. I would like Hobknob did believe my printout. Finding out that they weren't correct is the source of the issue. Hindsight which you seem to be using is always 20/20. You are implying that Hobknob knew the reports were false. That's a supposition that is not supported given the fact that Pete returned the fleets. There was obviously a problem that wasn't known until after the fact.
