Long would eclipse medium and short according to the description , but supposedly has deficiencies in covering short distances , so if you insist upon putting sensors on a ship , then would probably want to go with a mix of medium and long range sensors , and skip the short range sensors...or skip the sensors altogether . Researching the sensors will have some fire control equipment open up after certain sensors are researched , as well as a few other things that are prerequisites for some other interesting systems .
