Has anyone tried to and can you upgrade a fighter(F) unit to a heavy fighters(HF)
unit? I know you can't upgrade from fighter to bomber and ship fighter to fighter.

Rogue Leader,
In Victory! terms, a heavy fighter is also a different type of plane... So unfortunately a fighter can not be upgraded to a heavy fighter.
Any type of aircraft can only be upgraded to an aircraft of the same type.
