This is a conflict that has been going on for some time now so I will make some attempt to post them in sequential order.

Feel free to point out how poor my ship designs were, but know that I am already aware of that fact.

This combat was pretty dry since it was just a couple of scout ships that got toasted. Of course it always hurts when you lose your highest ranking explorer.

after managing to take out 70% of the opposing fleet.

I thought there was a minmum size for ships yet I see in one battle that Draegara had a ship of 400T. Is it possible to build a ship smaller than 1000T?



This came in the third from the bottom battle.

You are correct, ships < 1000 tons are not supposed to be able to be built. I have run into many of these so far. I figure that they were either built before the code was fixed, or the code is still broken. In either case it is hardly worth bothering Pete about at this point. I have had entirely too many other "important" concerns that needed attention so the added distraction was not warrented.

When Pete changed the code to no longer allow designs under 1000k, he said he intended to go through all existing designs at that time and pad them out with standard hull plate to reach 1k. So maybe he missed some.

A couple of turns ago I also encountered three fleets of 250 ton ships. (Engine, Jump Drive, and 50 tons Fuel Tankage) That is the most streamlined scout ship i have ever seen!

Sheesh a Combat Gunboat is a 500 ton 'small starship' as are a few other advanced fightercraft

Pete has never done such a thing as far as I know. If you had an existing under 1K design, it was never adjusted and you could keep building them.

What is a 250t ship class - Speed Bump? War Dart? Vernicious Knid*?

I must be old too. I still read paper books as well although I tend to more nonfiction these days. Roald Dahl who wrote Willy Wonka was a great children's (and adult's) author. I remember reading "James and the Giant Peach" when I was much much younger (around 9 or 10). One of the first books of his I can remember. He also wrote "The BFG" (Big Friendly Giant), "The Witches" and "Matilda" amongst others, all of which were made into movies or cartoons.

As you can tell from the previous battle reports, this little squabble was escalating. There were several attempts at contact early on that met with silence. The only sensible response to silence is to build more ships.

The votorious in the previous battle falls victim to a larger force. Of course, crappy ship design also played a good part of it as well.

I second that.

As long as somebody enjoys them I will continue to post them. Feel free to let me know you have had enough and I will find something else to do. There seemed to be a need of more reports of what's going on so I figured these would at least get the ball rolling.

I have presented just about every early post just to be sure and set the record straight as to how this entire affair got started. I am now being a bit more selective in what I post in an interest in space. I hardly think there is much interested in a 4M ton fleet managing to get by a 400 ton probe ship so I haven't posted all of those.

This is what happens to explorers who happen to show up in a war zone without an invitation. I often wonder if all those LC's actually died or if they are floating around in their life pods.

One thing about fighters and drones to be extrapolated from these reports, is that, from a defender's perspective, screens enhance the CIDS behind them because Fighters and Drones launch EARLY....

Never considered that before. Wow.

Moral of story: Don't launch fighters and drones against screen fleets that have CIDS behind them.

Makes sense! (imagining some poor fighter pilot zipping through chunks of screens with punishing CIDS batteries)
