Hopes, dreams and practical plans to colonize or otherwise exploit the moon as a source of minerals or a launch pad to the cosmos got a boost today with NASA's announcement of significant water ice at the lunar south pole.

Rephased in Supernova terms:

A GEO of the moon Sol 3a shows a Water resource level of over 300!

Hopes, dreams and practical plans to colonize or otherwise exploit the moon were thrown into disarray after NASA's announcement of significant water ice at the lunar south pole. A rag tag group of individuals using aliases such as MM, Hobknob, Lord Dependra, Flagritz, and many others all stepped forward claiming they had GEO'd the moon first, had the PDF's to prove it, and thus owned the rights to any resources. The issue is expected to languish in the courts for decades...... rolleyes.gif

Water ice? I thought it was ICE 1, 2 or 3, thousands of tons of the stuff! Far more significant.

Nope. If it were that, the Moon would probably have turned into a solid sphere of Light Metals by now.

Either that or a giant cream filled snack cake. rolleyes.gif

"...giant cream filled snack cake" - yeah, that's all well and good, but how do you 'harvest' this resource? (And why do I get the impression you haven't had the best of luck with ICE?)
