Why on earth do you want to integrate the actual display of the order list with the interface of economic management? Those are separate things.

What I've done is this (ignore the crude display resulting from ASCII art)

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
|AIC 1 name | heavy | light | oil | coal | food | ARM | AIR | SHIP | ... |
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
| name 1	| | | | | | | | | |
| name 2	| | | | | | | | | |
| name 3	| | | | | | | | | |
| ... | | | | | | | | | |
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

moving from AIC from | combo box with dest | <new>
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
| AIC to 1 | | | | | | | | | |
| AIC to 2 | | | | | | | | | |
| ... | | | | | | | | | |
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
enter amnt xxxxx xxxxx xxxx xxxx xxxxx xxxx xxxx xxxxx xxxxx

I suspect you get the giste of this. The bottom list is populated with the MCR desitinations that use the highlighted row in the upper list as origin. The combo box is populated with all predefined routes for that same selected origin AIC, and the button <new> creates a new MCR order for the origin -> destination combination based on the predefined route.

There is no order display, as it is not necessary. This interface creates/modifies/deletes MCR orders on the fly, and manipulates them in the order stream. :python:

What I have in mind now is a table in which you enter the orders, with a small table underneath it, that displays the current stockpiles and shortages in your AIC1 cities. This small table would be updated as you enter orders in the big table above.

I also have a tool that can graphically display industrial information about the starting positions, but that requires quite some screen space as well. I certainly have enough screen space to show it, but it would be a shame if I was the only one able to use it.

  • 4 months later...

If you're standing on a skyscraper on a clear day..... definitely!

Seriously, it's going to take at least a couple of months before I get the first beta out, but it's going to be a **** good application, even if I do say so myself.
