Just noticed that (as we built no ships last turn) our shipyards used up no power. The previous turn we built ships and each shipyard (regradless of whether it was used to construct a ship) used 100 power. So looks like its an "all or nothing" sort of fix :laugh:

This is true - it's been fixed a while. It's not quite like it was originally intended, but as of now your shipyards use power if you build, or scrap, any ships that turn. If, however, you build nothing, then all that power remains available.

 

If you only build ships occasionally and in batches, it may, therefore be useful to consider having more Stripmines than you can power with all the shipyards running.

 

BTW - this solution may not be as originally intended (if the detail was correct :thumbsup: ), but it is very easy to cope with and make descisions on.....

 

Certainly if you have XSHIP orders running, then you need all the power and life is simple....

What game are you talking about because I find SN:ROTE more complex than the average run of the mill PBM game.

 

 

Sure, simple. I only need four spreadsheets and a notebook to track one position. Throw in some spreadsheet coding ability, and basic cost/benefit analysis and it's like playing a game of checkers*.

* - By "checkers" of course we are referring to the Vheissuan variant which has players suspended, blind, in a zero-gravity field making strategy decisions involving a 3-D board of 128x128x128 spaces. This is cadet-level training of Ring pilots, and not so difficult in the big scheme of things. Certainly nothing like quantum-mechanical chess that is all the rage these days in the bohemian cafes of my HW.
