yep..it's a common misconception and a fact we do not try to advertise since we do not need more Californians here.

Here in SW Texas.. we can't figure out weather to have the AC or the heater on. Several times in the last 3 weeks the AC was on in the evening and the heater one in the morning.

As they say here in Texas... If you don;t like the weather... wait and it will soon change.

Get well Mr Pete

Seems alot of flu like stuff going around here too..was knocked out for a few days with 100-101 temp myself in the beginning of the week

IMPERIAL- then why are your pints smaller?

Hey, lay off the English- they've had a tough weekend (losing at rugby again :pirate2: )

Best wishes to Pete.

Got to love San Diego weather. a chilly 70 degree's out.

Warm it up a bit, please. I arrive Wednesday night for a couple days of meetings, but I had hoped for something slightly warmer. It will be much better than Chicago weather for early March!

We thought "A pint's a pound the world around." Is it not 16 fluid ounces everywhere?

This is not strictly true. It is true to say that 1 ml of water is 1 gram, because it's defined as so. A pound is 454 grams. An American wet pint is 471 grams, which is approximately the same. A British pint is 567 grams. But this is only talking about water. Since the same amount of different materials will weigh different amounts, this can only be regarded as an extremely approximate conversion. And, for some reason, the Americans have 16 fluid oz to a pint, while the British have 20 fluid oz to the pint.

Pete- hope you're feeling better, and sorry to hijack the thread.
