Lord Uriel
Hmmm. Interesting. Bugs/religion/philosophy/speculation. I'm not sure Socrates (human from Old Terra) would accept the rationale that a bug would have a thought seperate from the hive mind. If they are incapable of independent thought, why the need for a spiritual advisor? Perhaps the spiritual advisor is a spy, sent to sow dissent on the HW? I do enjoy the speculation though. Magus666
It is not a surprise that a human mammal type creature would have difficulty with this concept, since the First Mother did not instill an Olo Soul into the less evolved, or as some contend, DEVOLVED orders of living things, like bacteria, worms, reptiles and mammals. It is therefore impossible for them to understand the finer workings of the enlightened Synergemony. While we would gladly enlighten you if we could, it would be like trying to teach philosophy to our milking Aphids. It wastes our time and annoys the Aphids. She may think they are thinking independently but since she does all of the thinking for the Hive Mind she is in actuality doing all of the independent thought. I think I will ask our local University to ponder this question and see if they can give us an answer.
sir smeg
Very interesting we look forward to more of your interpretations of the different values of the races, it does make a nice change to trying to spot the problems creaping up in your empire, before they start to cascade. Finally, these calculations also promote speculations on the types of Fighter and Interceptor craft these species will use. With the optimal size and mass of such a vehicle being 100 tons, we can see that a "Fighter" for a Gigantic race will most likely be little more than a heavily armed, armored, and manuverable space suit for a single being, while a Tiny races fighters will simply be smaller versions of thier capital ships, housing several dozen beings each. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Another interpretation to this can be found the the novel "old man's war" with the Covandu (humans that are about an inch high), in this case each fighter represents more than one fighter, however the total amount of damage remains the same. The only difference is when you release the press report and times the number of fighters you have by 80.
