I never dreamed that you and your galactic neighbors would welcome our arrival with such fanfare! Your planetary anthem broadcasting proudly on all communication channels and the breath taking multi-colored aerial display timed perfectly to coincide with our entering the atmosphere. What an awe inspiring sight it was!

 

The job fair that followed was quite successful - I had no idea that we would have such a massive turnout for this event! Literally 100's of thousands of your subjects turned out for the opportunities we had available; it was very difficult, but I believe we were able to find gainful employment for almost all that attended. Sadly, the crowd control specialists that you had provided were not quite up to the task and were overcome by the crush of applicants; it was most fortuitous that my personal security force was available to restore order before the crowd became too unruly.

 

Again, my sincerest thanks for allowing this event to take place - your former citizens greatly appreciate the sacrifices you made which enabled them to take advantage of the career growth opportunities the Megachiroptera Empire could provide.

Oh the humanity, and I thought that the stories I here at work where far fetched.

 

For those interested here is the results of the Ground battle, on the first turn as well, almost like someone was worried that he might have misplaced a homeworld. :thumbsup:

 

So does anyone want to take bets on howlong it will take me to be the big meany, a years supply of starbrew for the closest answer. :thumbsup:

A humanoid creature roughly simila to a terran cat in features. These creatures grow to as large as 2 meters, being slightly

faster than can be considered average they are also able to jump large distances. Like their terran counterparts thye are

covered in a short layer of fur, this has been seen in almost all types of colours including some which appear to be rather

exotic, it is unknown if Silen dye their fur or if this is a natural occurrance.

Looking at the ground techs of both sides it appears to me that Smeg's empire was much much younger than his adversary.

So is that all there is to this game? Build your empire till a much older position finds you and rolls over you because theres no possible way you could stand up to them? From some of the other meetings of empires I am hearing about it certainly seems that way. What's the point of playing if the game is designed in such a way that players that have started in the last 2 years or so have no chance of ever being able to actually defend themselves against the older positions that come passing through? 500 million to 1 billion ton ships with Mk9 techs against positions that can only muster perhaps 20 million ton ships and MK4 or 5 techs? If this is a common occurence then the game needs some serious redesigning.

Well other empires founded around the same time are way more advanced. So it depends on your playstyle to some degree what happens.

 

 

coming from a player who used an older more advanced empire to pick off a younger empire I knew you wouldn't see a problem with this turn of events...

Really? I doubt that his position is much younger than mine - looking at the date he joined the forum, I'd speculate maybe 15 turns which is not significant considering the game has been running for about 7 years and I started long after the game began - the difference most likely is from initial racial design and research paths. Also of note, this is not Smeg's HW - judging by the lack of development, he probably only recently conquered it himself. Seeing that our start times were not so different and that it took 5 years for us to bump into each other, I think you are unfairly characterizing the game as being stacked against new empires - newer empires actually have an advantage in not having to learn as much through trial and error as the core empires had to do which certainly offsets having a few extra turns of play.

 

You would have a legitmate complaint if a core empire was bumping into someone who had started a couple of years ago - that is certainly not the case here and I've not heard of any incidents that would fit that description.

And as Desmodus said, is this Sir Smeg's main HW, or one that he has picked up and not developed yet.

 

There are just way too many variables to make a judgement off of one battle. If both sides would be willing to post the start dates of their empires, it would be easier to determine if the lopsidedness is due to a difference in start times or due to some other factor like racial design, research paths, empire management, etc. (assuming that the dates they post are accurate).

Don't know how long he owned it, but definitely was not his main HW - I can tell from the empire id linked to the main pop group that it originally belonged to SPS The Spreading Stain # 1190

It has certainly happened....I have my first position started in January 2008 that is neighbors to a position started in March 2005...of course , neighbors to a HW he had conquered . But the potential is very real that an old position can overrun a much newer position , depending on diplomacy or lack of it .

From the previous posts I had taken it that it was the main HW which i would have expected an older empire to have much more ground defense units.Combining the low level of defensive troops and the low ground techs led me to believe it was a much younger empire.

And until you know from other sources or longer experience with one player/empire one should plan for such an incident.

 

What impresses me is the quick and stealthly annextion.

 

From these posts I would have anticipated a Ground Attack next turn at the earliest.

I am happy to say that the homeworld located in the Icrar system was not my Empires home system, the wonders of one way warp points allowed one of my explorers to get there following by the minimal requirements of an reclamation force. For those who may care the path back to my empire is a long and interesting one expecially since my scouts use an array of five MK VI JSS, it should be fun and give me time to send out the odd supprise, though I can't say for certin if I can do the same thing I did in victory. :cheers:

You must have some type Z WP's to require the use of FIVE Mk6 Jump Survey Sensors!!!! :thumbsup:

 

I have successfully scanned 8 Type G WP's with nothing more than a single Mk4 JSS plus a mid/high grade explorer and a mid grade scientist.

 

In fact, I've scanned 2 Type I WP's with nothing more than a single Mk4JSS plus the top of the line explorer and top of the line scientist.

 

One has to wonder whether you really need 5 of those Mk6 JSS's in order to get to your actual HW....
