I think that choosing the country first come first serve helps some. However, since I was already signed up in the last game and booted because of those groups untless changes occur 101 will be my last game for victory. Unless it is similar to this one. I have been waiting 8 months to play victory and that is a liitle too long for any game.

Richard, it's easy enough to get into an ongoing game of Victory. People are dropping all the time, and some TA groups even have occasional need of a new player to replace a dropped TA. Because I didn't want to wait until game 101 started, that's exactly what I did, and I've been playing in game 99 for several months. The dropped positions are rarely in the best condition, but hey, at least you're playing! :-)

If anyone wants to get started early on their turns for game 101

Hey Pete and Russ,'

What number will we be using for 101 in the vic order entry program?

Thanks,

Richard Johns-

Hi Richard,

It’ll be game 91 for order entry purposes.

Best wishes,

Russ

With what has become a team game, especially now that people can get together and pick their setups these four countries with no close ally will never be chosen

I have to agree, I was thinking of taking Norway, but spoke to a friend whom I won't reveal, and realized Norway is on the menu for some big

TA. Germany and Hungary are tough plays when you have friends close, but alone? Forget about it. Greece is a strong position, but alone won't do well. I could see Germany, Hungary and Greece doing ok, but not without some breaks.

It's been a very long time since we have played Victory. My very first game was #3 followed by 6 and #9. The only one I remember well after 20 years is my Ireland in game #6. I'm taking the helm at Ireland once again. Cry Havoc and let loose the dogs of war!:)

@Ed / Lord Patton:

I am quite surprised. How you can come to the conclusion that the FC-bug is NOT a bug??

Fighter Cover

A force with "Fighter Cover" orders will patrol a series of provinces, sea zones or a combination thereof and provide fighter protection to YOUR naval and/or army forces in those provinces/sea zones should they come under attack. If any of YOUR naval and/or army forces are attacked in a province or sea zone being patrolled by a force with "Fighter Cover" orders, that patrolling air force will react and engage the attacking enemy air force in air combat.

There is NO "your TA" or something like that - so the wording how it was meant is very clear and does not leave any room for an other interpretation.

This also has been confirmed by Russ on several occasions - and i also think that players accepted that.

I also think that anything else than that would not make sense (i am aware that balance can always be a topic for deep discussions).

It would mean that you maybe have to cope with 2 x 50 fighters before getting to the target, while only being allowed to have 1 x 25 on escort.

Of course, in "real life" you should be able to protect your allieds - but this is not real life, it's a simplified game where balancing should be done in a best possible way.

And as we all know the bug and as Russ is forced to do something every time the bug is being triggered (by intention or by accident), let's simply not create situation where the bug is being triggered.

I think you are missing the point. If I own the province and my TA owns the city and you bomb the city, my planes on FC should have a chance to intercept you on the way to the city. That just makes sense. How are my planes (that are covering the province) know that you intend to bomb my forces in the province vs. my TA's in the city? Not to mention that bombers are over powered in this game, I think this helps a small amount, after all it takes a lot of setup, or just dumb luck to even have a situation like this.

I have been appointed the commander of British forces. Our allies to the west have become isolationist and the rest of the countries are unresponsive to our hails. If you would like to open up an accord drop us a line. Long Live Great Britain and its Total Allies.

I have played with a different group of players in every game so I would not be part of a fixed group but I have played with individuals more than once. Prior to my break from Victory I usually played solo. I think the speed of email has made the group coordination much more of a concern than it was back when communication was much slower.Since returning I have joined as both a group or individual but usually joined a group relatively quickly. Game 98 I stayed solo until around turn 14 but joined a group once I saw I had two countries definitely attacking.

I would like to see the TA's reduced. Game 96 was meant to do that but as mentioned people still worked together although they had to work harder for intelligence. I still thought it was an interesting game. We also see TA's working with other TA's but sides do change as the game progresses.

Perhaps a random country assignment would break up groups but I think they would still form relatively quickly with different members.

Not trying to change game 101 at this point but would be interested in peoples opinion to a new special game.

All turns would be processed at random on the last day of the tech period (unless a player skipped that turn completely). Once Russ runs the batch any turns submitted late would be held to the next turn but you did have 2 weeks to get a turn in. This would eliminate a lot of the TA or Team advantages where they stagger their attacks to focus on a specific target such as eliminating a army or air base in a single turn. No one would have complete intel prior to a turn and It also gets rid of the constant movement of turns to get an advantage. Russ would simply do one 1 batch of turns processed at random so double turns would always have to be considered possible but everyone would have the same risk. I also like advanced stockpiles so that you have more units to play with from the start. If someone likes the idea of this sort of special game we can start a new thread to see if we can fill a game.

When did this happen and where is the discussion thread? I would be very interested in trying a no TA game or one like Reece talks about.
