The Boo Consulate
a newbie question... Is the Galactic Senate the same thing as the Galactic Star League? Thanks, -Jeff It appears to be the same genus but not the same species. Still Honored One Fethra
Galreth
Valkor promises to watch with curiosity at this point while parliament discusses the merit of the Galactic Senate. Valkor has seen such an experiment on more than one occasion already. King Galreth I Valkor Star Kingdom
T'Aleen Empire
a newbie question... Is the Galactic Senate the same thing as the Galactic Star League? Thanks, -Jeff It appears to be the same genus but not the same species. Still Honored One Fethra Grand Ideas...are great in theory, but the rub comes...when in fact most alliances that "do not have LINKED membership" are nothing more than "Paper Lions"! They talk and talk, debate and debate, and pass one resolution after another...all in the name of the cause. All of this really in the end matters for not, because they have "NO WAY" of enforcing anything. The membership picks and chooses what they will or will not do, and there is no real way to get things done in either a timely matter, or completed when the need arrises. I am sorry that I seem to be putting the negative spin on this, but this is just my experiences with a former alliance/idea that failed for just the same issues! PS: I do wish you good luck though with your efforts and hope that your organization manages to make it all work !!!
Kurassier
BYLAW PROPOSAL: KRELNETT-ETERNUS "Secretary-Senator" Position I second this proposal. I might suggest that a numbering system be used for bylaws/bylaw proposals to make them more easily identifiable. As to the other comments, I expect a lot of ribbing and poking fun, heck, I've done a lot of it myself. However, I don't envision this at the present time as any type of enforcement group. Until there is more contact, something like that would just not be feasible. I view this more as an attempt to organize into a loose connection of open minded empires. Will there be debate, of course, it is a senate if you will. Will there be disagreements? I certainly hope so! This would be a boring game if everybody thought exactly the same. octagon999
What are you going to do when a player joins with one empire (one vote per player, not empire) but then does as he pleases, even flaunts the Senate with his or her other empires? Shouldn't you require that if a player joins, then ALL his empires are bound by his membership? Hrm?
EternusIV
Details, details..... (good point, man - I don't know? ) Catering was our first priority, duped membership second...format thrown in between there.... Everything else is a complete mystery from here to me and I'm excited to see what fellow members propose.

Makes sense to me, to require all, however, at this point, my proposal to have one vote per player, not empire, has not yet been seconded, and may not pass. Senator Palpatine
Fellow and Future Senators, I believe that there is massive corruption and too much intrigue amongst sentient beings and strongly urge everyone to join the Galactic Senate. I believe, as our first act, we should elect a strong leader, one who will defend our republic. I believe, as our second act, we should strongarm any who do not immediately post their empire names and send their turnsheets to our leader. Only then can we guarantee peace and trade in the universe. -Peace Loving Senator Palpatine
hobknob
Not saying that I would ever have anything to do with the Senate, but the one vote per person idea is a non starter. If you are bringing 4 positions to the table then you should get 4 votes. This then lets the people who play multiple positions get some bang for each position. Ixitixl
At this time the Mantodea Empire will not be joining the Galactic Senate. We wish you success in you endeavor.

Hannibal
I'll make an effort to take part in this noble adventure. “I hereby wish to enjoy the protections and benefits of the Galactic Senate and promise to honor the Bylaws ratified by the Galactic Senate. I remain a sovereign empire, but will honor any duties imposed upon me by the Senate for as long as I choose to remain a member. I also promise to inspire non-members to the high ideals for which the Galactic Senate stands.” Hannibal Carthaginian Empire #
