A fair number of my breakthroughs in the 3rd Generation Horizen tech and most of the "Adequate" systems have taken about 27 turns to research. The square root formula and bonuses which are derived from Intelligence, Sensory, and Long Life were developed by my fellow PA members and I can't take credit for them. I do believe that they are fairly accurate however. If nothing else the formulas can serve as a base of discussion so that we all have the same reference when we talk about research points.
