Centhen
Can anyone give me a guide as to the percentage that 'very high' attrition equates to without the use of cities, and how much these would improve attrition by. Nearly all my local planets are very high or worse attrition. Centhen
Krelnett_of_Kraan
We're not colonizing our VH's yet, until we get some more terraforming tech. Besides, one VL is sucking up all our excess population quite handily.
Centhen
I wish I had some - I have only 1 planet less than Very High in my starting 4 systems apart from HW. Is this normal? or a touch extreme? Chris
Kurassier
I have only 1 planet less than Very High in my starting 4 systems apart from HW.Is this normal? or a touch extreme? Well, I've CSV'd over 400 planetary bodies. 84% have attrition of High or worse.....
octagon999
Even Very Low is prohibitive to anything other than small colonies. Once you get a large base, those casualties will start adding up. Its why those colonization bonuses are worth their weight in gold, er, star credits. Keep looking! Krelnett_of_Kraan
Not always true. Our Very Low has been steadily gaining population since we got there. Either there's no attrition or the reproduction more than cancels it out, because we've never seen an attirtion message on that world. We're not very good colonizers, either. Lord Xaar
Very low is pretty easy to get around with just the initial colonization installations: City, Colonial Training Center, etc. Domed City is an essential installation to have. Temperature is extraordinarily difficult to deal with, even with Deep Core Heatsinks, and the like, you really had better not try to colonize anything in force that is too different from the HW temp. Attrition is ugly (believe me, I've learned some valuable lessons on this front). Temperature resistance is probably one of the most well-worth buys on a set-up. Some other later installations are good at reducing attrition, but all are expensive to build. Try the next system out, hopefully you'll have better luck. Unless you went down the colonizer route (plant races seem very good at colonizing) you will see a lot of "Very High" reports on your CSV's -LX
Clan Elder 'Keen
There are also some oddities, such as Domed City and City do not stack I believe. Is this true? And what about Subterranean Cities....
Locklyn
There was a problem earlier on with cities and domed citites which Pete corrected if I remember correctly. Also Cities, Domed Cities and Subterranenan citites do stack as they each affect a small but different portion of attrition. /Locklyn

athonian
whats the best way to deal with a different atmosphere? domed cities? subterreanian? i've been told domed cities aren't what i think? is there anything outside fo an atmosphere changer that i can use? *desparately wants a world*

Alternatively, build a Domed City and a Subterranean City.
Clan Elder 'Keen
So let me get this straight... Domed + Subterranean Domed + Atmosphere Exchanger Subterranean + Atmosphere Exchanger ...are all valid combos. How about normal Cities? City + Domed + Subterranean ? City + Domed + Atmosphere Exchanger ? City + Subterranean + Atmosphere Exchanger ?
crossroads
Why not Domed + Subterranean + Atmosphere Exchanger ? Or even City + Domed + Subterranean + Atmosphere Exchanger ?
athonian
how much attrition does each of these things take down?
