Fenor
Can anyone tell me the prerequisites for building subterranean cities? (I know this has been asked before but I can't find the answer for the life of me)
cestvel
INST: Subterranean City Subterranean City: Subterranean Cities provide safe, clean and affordable housing for your colonists, with the added benefit of being sealed from harsh atmospheric and planetary surface conditions. It is much more difficult for alien flora and fauna to invade a City than open encampments, reducing colonial attrition as a result. Cities are manned by 1 Population unit, and provide housing for 100 additional Population. Production requirements: 25,000 Advanced Construction Materials Consumes: Requires: 3rd Generation Civil Engineering as a prerequisite technology Requires: Advanced Construction Materials as a prerequisite technology Pretty strait forward. You would have stumbled over it anyways.

I am not so sure about the "affordable" bit of the description.

RTGPete
Colonists love having both surface housing and subterranean dwellings available to them. A nice dome is always nice as well. This translates into: the general colonization modifier bonuses from all three city types stack, so you could build one of each for every 100 pop on the world and receive benefits from all of them. Whether it's worth the cost or not depends entirely on the budget given to your Colonization Bureau.....
