My next PC Buy after I get bored of Civ IV will be: Galactic Civilizations II I hear the ship design within the game is unreal. http://www.galciv2.com/Index.aspx
Clan Elder 'Keen
I played Star Wars it quite a bit over the holiday weekend. Solid gameplay combining RTS and strategic management, and it has the nostalgia factor for those of us who are Star Wars fans (who isn't?!). One of the coolest parts of the game is the cinamagraphic viewpoint option where you can zoom into the middle of the current fight, be it space or ground... a giant furball of Tie Fighters and Star Destroyers destroying the Rebel Scum is unforgettable. I will say the game doesn't really have enough complexity to be a permafavorite like Age of Empires for RTS buffs or the Civilization series. Eldred
So has anyone actually played Galactic Civ II? Just read a review, it looks awesome and is being cited as an equal to Civ IV http://www.gamespot.com/pc/strategy/starwa...utoplay=6144469 Just watched the video review, and decided to head to the store to buy it! Mechanica
Yes, I'm playing GalCiv2. Unfortunately with WoW, EAW, EE2 expansion I don't have the time to do the huge maps like I want to.

While it is significantly superior to the old version and the ship design enhancements are very interesting, I think it will probably suffer from it's mid-game lethargy being carried over. I always found the original to drag a bit in the middle, whereas CIV's have tended to get tedious at the end (if one has a commanding lead). However, my time invested has been minimal at present and opinion my change. The graphics are excellent! While simplistic, they take advantage of usefulness and visual stimulation without being over powering. Those who like stunning visual effects may be disappointed. However, I think the authors/producers wanted this product to be playable and appealing on 4 year old computers, not just the latest whiz bang game monster. CIV4 is excellent and I will probably be back at it soon, once I get a little better feel for Gal Civ II. Both are worth the money, from an enjoyment perspective. Octus P.S. Is it next Friday yet? Hughestrog
P.S. Is it next Friday yet? Considering what I've got to do at work next week, I hope not!
