richardjohns
I wanted to know what people thought of Draco versus Andromeda.
coling
The differences are forcing me to rethink a lot of strategic choices I made in Andromeda. The obvious similarities make many aspects of Draco easy but I keep tripping over assumptions I made without thinking. I am also noticing that the differences are affecting the way the various parts of an empire work together (or not in the case of one or two individuals who were clearly not up to the jobs they were given and have now been . . .errr . . . removed). Overall, I'm enjoying Draco.
richardjohns
The Rustic Empire has come up with an idea to not make Draco a cargo wars empire. I am also steering away from all industrial and stripmining technologies unless I get them in time. None of my 307 saved points will be used on them. Instead, I will be focused on many things Pete talked about in different parts of the forums. I have currently finished my first turn and will be sending in my second turn next week. I will have all PMAP, GEO, ORB, and CSV on all my planets in my home system this turn. My 1st SRP gave me MK II Jump Survey Sensors and I built some. On turn 3, I will be researching MK III Jump Survey Sensors and 3rd Generation Space Science. By the time they get done my improved stuff will be done so I can build them. Now, don't get me wrong I am building ships for Explore orders and they need cargo bays. I will deliver a few things to a few colonies but after that I am not going to bring stuff to my homeworld. All items found by explore orders will stay on the colonies. I am setting up colonies on each world I have a colony beacon. There is no reason to set one up unless your going to use it. I have also decided to make all explorer ship one AP ships and only have one per planet. By turn 10, I want to start moving colonists to all planets within one system of my empire. I hope to be landing colonists to every planet, asteroid and gas giant in my home system by turn 6.
Dr. Pierre Chang
I like Draco. A lot. I liked Andromeda. A lot. Still do. I like getting a turn every week, instead of the two week wait, so I've stayed in both. I wish the player community could agree to allow some of the Draco changes (that wouldn't unbalance the game unfairly) in Andromeda. Obviously, some things just can't be changed at this point, but some could. Elder Lyons Brotherhood of Steel
richardjohns
The biggest changes will be the inability to make lots of fuel. Even if AP 8 is quickly obtained in Draco, fuel production will be restricted with skimming 200 x 8 = 1600 fuel (Andromeda 200 x 999=199800). 2 billion fuel would be needed by Draco fleets just to leave some home systems. In Draco you will need 1250000 fuel shuttles and 2 billion ton fuel tankage at minimum on your gas giant. You could have a resupply tanker of 2 billion tankage on the other side of the warp point waiting and it would require two 2 billion tankers supplying the fuel and one skimmer fleet with 1250000 fuel shuttles and a 2 billion ton fuel tankage in the next system. That is if the ships only required 2 billion fuel. I have two ways out of my system so I need to multiply by two. What about defenses? General Miles Avatar
Im not so sure about fuel being an issue in Draco. Although AP is limited making those 999 AP fuel skimming ship a pipe dream the cost to produce fuel from gasous elements has been reduced by a factor of 3. Find a nice deposit of GE's and boom instant fuel depot. In Draco resource potentials have also been given a huge boost so those fuel depots will be a dime a dozen. I think a bigger issue now that there are no gates or worm hole generators is the safe secure transport of fuel and every other resource needed to feed your IC's
