Emanon
Oh Heck! Why not set up an XEXPL followed by an XOC to your pop group, then you free up so much cargo space for more primitive artwork! Long Live Emanon
Hiver
Roger that, Hobnob - 25,000 per EXPL or find. Sorry for the confusion... As for primitive artwork, maybe you can use them as a gift for primitive neutral races? Has anybody tried that?
DWillard
The XEXPL/XOC/XEXPL/XOC, etc., etc. works great. Obviously, it's a larger investement in number of orders but it sure beats having to come up with all those extra cargo holds.
PhaseDragon
Has anyone tried to build more than one surface fleet on their homeworld? I was wondering if it is possible. Since EXPL orders are random then exploring on your homeworld with the XOC order seems like the best solution of all...or the biggest exploit of the game design. Either way, I haven't tried it yet. I did however scrap my Bastion class fortress in favor of a design with drone racks, fighter bays, and cargo space. Never really thought about berthing or troop space but I suppose if it is complely random you could find one...maybe.
Ur Lord Tedric
You can have as many fleets at your HW as you like. I've certainly got 2 with Surface Fortresses on mine. One is for defence and keeps doing XSENS and XLFE. The other has double XEXPL and is there to help with managing my Pop Gps. But also I don't see any problem in a HW fleet containing Surface Forts, Orbitals and Starships in the same fleet...................... ShadowKitsune
I haven't really mixed them, Surface Fortresses and Orbitals/Starships, that is. For me it's a mobility issue, a Surface Fortress is a pretty good sized boat anchor.
Laserwolf
Yup, oddly enough you can mix surface, orbital and starships, AND put the surface fortrss in the FRONT RANKS of the battle force... imagine that...
Ur Lord Tedric
Yes, that issue has not yet been resolved yet, has it! My vote is that ALL Surface Fortresses are restricted to position P and ALL orbitals to position K....... Then by all means positon your other ships around them, but you shouldn't have multiple lines of those two. Tokmok
Hello How much should I invest in exploration? How many ships do you need pr explore fleet? Do you give them extra Action points or do you make Big exploration vessels with say 500000 Cargo bays and then letting the explore for a while? Is exploration worth the effort if I have worlds in my home-system worth colonizing? Or is it mostly just for the fun that you do it?? thanks tokmok
ShadowKitsune
FWIW - I do it mostly for the 'fun' of it. I like finding new things.
hobknob
Well it all depends on your perspective. Finding a few NTWD would make it well worth it in my book though.
octagon999
Actually, I'm set up with XOC, XEXPL, XEXPL, XOC. Works great. Until that planet runs out. Then I'm screwed again setting up more orders. Someone suggested awhile ago that we be informed when the planet is exhausted. I think that would be a great idea, and reduce player frustration. Just a quick blurb saying something to that effect.
Laserwolf
"Until that planet runs out" Where did this observaition (or is this conjecture) come from?
Clan Elder 'Keen
From past discussions regarding this topic, I do not believe there is currently a depleting pool for discoveries. It is handled more like permanent resource potentials.
