Krelnett_of_Kraan
Are there any characters (or words) that cannot be used in the name of a ship, fleet, or leader? We think comma is obvious, because the program will recognize that as starting a new field, but what about brackets or parentheses? Pete? Russ? Octus Imperium
What about an unusual symbol, like what that 'artist' used that was formerly known as Prince? <Now who's going to (purple) rain on my quotes around artist?> Octus

Can we use punctuation?
octagon999
When entering numbers, a comma will cause the program to skip to the next "field" thus terminating your entry. So comma's are out. Probably other punctuation will cause errors as well. Definitely a Pete question, but I think I'd be too paranoid to try it, personally. RTGPete
Avoid using commas, single or double quotes for sure. A name like $*$(#@ is prone to error in any event - it makes it harder for me to help you out in case that's needed and you might mistype it at some point....it might be best to avoid and use regular names.
