hobknob
Based on previous experience it seem apparent that the program does not check to see if current cargo actually still fits in a cargo hold. Once you get it loaded as cargo you are pretty much good to go. so the check will be on the loading side. That being said it would check the new fleet to see how much space was available and how much cargo would be transfered first and failing to have enough cargo the item should remain in the parent fleet. I don't think that the overfuelling bug has been completely fixed yet, I still have fleets overfueling and had a new one overfuel for the first time last turn. The whole RN issue also brings up the point that we need to have some control of cargo when reorganizing a fleet. The transfer of cargo has got to be addressed as it reaeers its ugly head more and more often.
PhaseDragon
The only successful EXPL orders that I have done were on my homeworld and were just history about my race being a possible splinter of an ancient empire. Still, being a programmer myself, I am on Pete's side for now. Fix the things that are glaring errors before tackling reality issues. Splitting up cargo in space between fleets is at the top of my list of things that need to be fixed. Even if you had to issue an extra order I would love to be able to dictate what goes to which fleet or to simply just pass by another fleet and trade stuff. T'Aleen Empire
With some of my results I have found a Cathedral of this or that God and I just wish I could have a Priest character there on the fleet to take benfit form the find. hobknob
I have a priest at a temple to somebody and haven't noticed that anything happens. My conversations with Pete also indicated that the religous function ( religious brown nosing) wasn't turned on yet.
Galreth
I'm also in the process of building Cathedral, Mission, and Shrine on the 1 per 100 pop rule at a colony and have NOTHING to report so far. RTGRuss
That hasn't been the case so don't worry on that score. You haven't been losing lots of items - the code just hasn't been letting you find very many if any at all. We are looking at increasing the chances on finding things since that is a planned fun activity that just isn't working. Please note that this isn't mean to be a lottery jackpot - you won't be finding huge weapons that outclass your entire fleet (and that of your neighbors). You'll find small lots of items, including finished products, that will be useful to you but will not upset the strategic balance of power. The chance of losing items will exist but if you follow the guideline here you won't have to worry about it. Guideline: Shoot for about 25,000 tons available cargo capacity. The vast majority of finds will be less than this (the larger finds being either rare or dealt with in other ways) so you can get by with less but if you want to pretty much eliminate the chance of losing something - keep 25,000 tons free space. Implementation Note: We'll include a note in the turn results when we've got this change in the game. You can start making plans but don't go hog wild on EXPL orders for the purpose of trying to find doodads until you see the note from Pete Bumping some notes from an earlier thread - we put in a notice on the mid-August turn to expect exploration finds but took another cycle to get it to start kicking in as we wanted.
