LOL ok somehow my attempts at humor have fallen on a sore spot.

Not at all. Humor is always welcome on this forum. So is fresh err... contact. Yah contact.

As others have said it is a large galaxy. Even those with more than one empire are very likely going to need allies in order to accomplish anything. A good example is the Go'ald-Eyre/Roman-Valkor war. At least one of the those players has (or had) more than one empire yet they could only bring one to the fight.

In fact if you want to see one direction SN:ROTE can go, review those threads. The Collector thread is another one that is entertaining and yet gives a good idea of what happens in conflict in this game.

Conflict? What conflict? There is no conflict in this game. Everyone is friendly and peace loving and a joy to have as neighbors. Oh to be sure, races do have some occasional differences. But being friendly and all, they simply meet and iron out their differences using what the Press has termed "Intense Negotiations". Yes, you'll be pleased to know that huge fleets of negotiators are plying the star paths even now, helping races to argue their causes to the rest of the universe.

So remember, there is NO conflict. And if you disagree many will be glad to send some negotiators to your homeworld to discuss the matter up close and personnel.

Oh sorry WKE, you are correct. Everything is peaceful in this galaxy and we are all standing around, holding hands and singing Kumbaya. :)

“We, the members of Phoenix Arisen, in order to form a more perfect union, establish Justice and insure Galactic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare and ensure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this constitution for the members of our alliance.

We believe that a perfect union is one where the members share our point of view.

We stand for our way of life and the rule of Justice, not law.

We believe that the way to galactic tranquility is through the elimination of sources of dis-ease.

We shall strictly and enthusiastically defend all territories and borders from those who do not share our beliefs.

We shall promote the welfare of our constituents through research support and open trade.

We ensure the liberty of the beings within our 968 system sphere of control through an active and aggressive expansion of our buffer zones.

We adhere to the logic of strength and the wisdom of Sun Tzu.

We tolerate no deceit.

Should an empire encroach upon our borders we shall let them know.”

We are comprised of a union of races including plants, felines, angels, demons, humans, machines and others. Our collective knowledge spans years and parsecs, each veterans of conflits such as these and masters of trade. In time we shall encounter each of you, the results should be... interesting.

We are the Phoenix Arisen from the ashes of conquest.

We do not sing Kumbaya.

Welcome, and don't forget to have several StarBars contracted to be built in your systems, just wouldn't be the same without one!! :P:)

Valkor High Command released the following message today, received through long-range communications satellites. The message, of poor quality, was thought first to be garbled, but after extensive computer analysis, it appears the message was actually TWO messages in simulcast. Beacon Hall officials don't really know what to make of it, but thought the public should hear it and judge for themselves.

<static...static....static>

We, the members of Phoenix Arisen, in order to form a more perfect union, establish Justice (thru conquest) and insure Galactic Tranquility (by eliminating all neighbors), provide for the common defense (by taking the common offense), promote the general welfare (by destroying everyone else's) and ensure the blessings of liberty to ourselves (and ONLY ourselves) and our posterity (none is evident), do ordain and establish this constitution for the members of our alliance.

We believe that a perfect union is one where the members share our point of view (we give our members their opinions as they can't be allowed to think for themselves).

We stand for our way of life and the rule of Justice, not law (translation: our agreements are non-binding, so don't bother with even border treaties).

We believe that the way to galactic tranquility is through the elimination of sources of dis-ease (PA handbook, page 2: "Dis-ease is a term for all non-PA races").

We shall strictly and enthusiastically defend all territories and borders from those who do not share our beliefs (and since we recognize no borders, your territories ARE our territories).

We shall promote the welfare of our constituents through research support and open trade (as if "constituents" means anything other than pawn, peasant, or underling).

We ensure the liberty of the beings within our 968 system sphere of control through an active and aggressive expansion of our buffer zones (was Shai system one of those, 'cuz if it was, the @ss-kicking of 34 million tons of your warships kind of makes it Allied space now).

We adhere to the logic of strength and the wisdom of Sun Tzu (if the old dead Chinese imperialist has something more to say than, "know the enemy and know yourself and you'll never lose a battle," let me know, 'cuz he's as worthless as your 34 million tons of debris).

We tolerate no deceit (yet actively practice it).

Should an empire encroach upon our borders we shall let them know (again with a declaration you don't follow; not sure you grasp the the whole "constitution" idea; I know Rome and Valkor received no such notice).

We are comprised of a union of races including plants, felines, angels, demons, humans, machines (slugs, backstabbers, two-faced dictators) and others. Our collective knowledge spans years and parsecs, each veterans of conflits (like the aforementioned butt-kicking) such as these and masters of trade (we take yours and give nothing in return). In time we shall encounter each of you, the results should be... interesting (why, yes they were).

We are the Phoenix Arisen from the ashes of conquest (if you need more ashes, look in Shai System...about 34 million tons of it floating around).

We do not sing Kumbaya (perhaps Ali was right and you should start humming a few bars...)

Shai is only one of many systems where the PA ashes have been kicked about. And lets not forget all the home worlds lost as well. :)

ON a more serious side for the newcomer. Conquest of a neighbor in SN is challenging. The game is designed so you can't simple slap together a fleet, send it flying through space, and take some worlds. The game requires careful planning and organization of your entire position (especially R&D selections) for a conquerer to have success. Otherwise the defensive advantages in the game, along with defensive abilities improving faster in the early techs over weapons, can result in the conqueror being the one defeated with big ship losses.

Oh too true, but unlike the PA, Valkor speaks only of what it knows. We leave it to other empires to speak of their valiant operations to counter the PA's benevolent leadership. :) Valkor certainly seeks not to minimize the past, present, and future operations against the common enemy.

Such bitterness...such resentment... didum's get yer feelings hurt by the PA Galreth? Were they mean to you?

or perhaps you merely transfer your anger with your favorite pirate  MMB over to the PA, with whom you have NEVER had any dealings or encounters.

Seems to be some “healthy” rivelry going on in this now hijacked thread!!!!! :) Good conflict among the “elder” races is good for us younger races. I do have a new player related question. Can you pre-build installations and ship them? If not is 50K CM enough to ship to a new colony?

Thanks

You cannot pre-build installations.

50k CM will do for a maximum of a 100 colonists. You will need to keep on shipping CM's with your colonists. And more than 500 per pop, since the power generating installations require quite some CM's (besides the coal fired power plant, which is a good installation to start with).
