Coconutheads
That was the goal... especially since we lost the last round about two months ago. I think this put the matter to rest however. Then again, there is always White Shadow Imperium and Galvorn Protectorate to find SO, is it really overkill? I guess Black Cloud must have dropped at some point.

Krelnett_of_Kraan
We're boggling at the +30 tac modifier on Close Combat. Our recent studies of this new thing called 'War' led us to believe +10 was the maximum attainable for any category.

Our recent studies of this new thing called 'War' led us to believe +10 was the maximum attainable for any category. That observation is right for all the other parameters, but Close Combat. I think Pete stated that because of the racial modifiers you can buy for Close Combat, which has a +30 cap iirc.

I think Pete stated that because of the racial modifiers you can buy for Close Combat, which has a +30 cap iirc. Krelnett, You make a good point. When I was copying the information for posting here, I saw the +30, thought it was strange, then moved on. Until you pointed it out though, my understanding was that all combat modifiers were limited to +10. But Cestvel must be right because that is the number showing on my .pdf too (I verified it for my own satisfaction). Upon reflection this groundcombat was overkill, but the theory was that barring certain knowledge of enemy forces, more was better. That theory has been proven out. Personally I think next turn has the potential to be more interesting space and ground combat wise. We really did find a second Black Cloud homeworld as a result of us utilizing his stable wormhole generator (actually Galvorn's SWG). This was a TOTAL surprise. We expected to find a simple colony with a wormhole generator on the far side. But finding a second homeworld that has even more advanced industries than the first HW was not something we ever considered. There are several questions that will be answered next turn: 1) Will BCL allies (White Shadow Imperium, Galvorn Protectorate and any unknown allies) be able to muster any warships to try to defend the orbit of this second homeworld? 2) If there are, will they be sufficient to clear out the 3+ billi-tons of warships waiting for them in orbit? 3) Will 1000 troops be sufficient to capture a second homeworld in as many turns?? 4) Will there be any surprises at this second homeworld? 5) Are there any other wormholes that will lead us to a WSI or GAL homeworld??? I'm really looking forward to see what is going to happen in a week and a day from now. I hope we don't have to wait till after Christmas to find out. I'm curious, will anyone out there fess up to knowing the person(s) who controls Black Cloud, White Shadow Imperium or Galvorn Protectorate? Come on, SOMEONE has to know these guys... Are BCL, WSI and GAL members of the PA allliance? Are they part of WHAPO??? Why have they never responded to any of our MESS's?? We've given them plenty of opportunity to talk. cestvel
It was only overkill in hindsight Well planned and executed. One would have expected a lot more troops on such an advanced world, than simply the starting gear.
Coconutheads
Yes I certainly expected to see more troops but since they appear to be relatively weak, maybe there weren't any for good reason. With a "Defending divisions counted as if they were 0.1333333 divisions each for casualty purposes" it probably would be a waste of time to build sufficient troops to defend against any decent sized attack. Gary Carpenter
I find it funny that the only battles posted on this forum are the WINNING battles, not only in this thread but others. Are the egos of you winners so fragile as to not even be able to report a loss? Inquiring minds want to know. I do not post any battles, so I do not give out any intel on my empire. I just wonder what the mindset, is to talk about how weak the enemy was, and how great you are, when after all if they suck that bad, then how great was the victory? AS PER NORMAL OPERATING PROCEDURE, Stirring the pot.

I believe you are confusing "stirring the pot", with posting of real battle data. We have posted one battle report that I recall in response to a post by IDE. We would rather our victories remain hidden, so no one gets too worried. Actually I posted a battle where the Hellenes counterattacked way back when and handed my scaly behind to me?
