General Miles Avatar
We just had a battle involving fighters that just didnt add up. On one side there was a Armed Survey ship and on the other an unarmed survey transport ship. The armed ship had 300 strike fighters at the start of the battle and at the end it had 107? How in the blazes did an unarmed transport manage to 'shoot down' 193 strike fighters? Has anyone else experienced something like this? and in a related story... I had another battle also involving fighters. This time however our side had 600 strike fighters and the other had 2000 fighters. They had a Command Crusier of about 800,000 and we had a Heavy Crusier of 500,000. Mind you we had just the strike fighters to give us PD. In the end the escort pathfinder and the Command Cruiser were vaporized. Our ship had minor damage which seemed to magically disappear in a yet another battle this same ship had later in the turn. all fighters on both sides were destroyed. No warrior type leaders were present in either fleet. There may yet be some glitches but I suspect its in the reporting side... at least I hope its just the reporting. WEIRD I'd address this to Pete via email.

The warp buster ship was unarmed with no weapons at all and yet managed to take out 193 strike fighters? maybe they were lost when the survey ship blew up?? My ship was unscathed except for the loss of the strike fighters. Perhaps there is something else going on but only the Oracle can answer that. Damiano
Damn Bro - you never heard if Mail Merge? Trust me when you lose over 3000 attack fighters in a "succesful" combat you better wish you had, beside there is more than one jock in a 100 tonne fighter, don't forget the eyes and ears I'll take a look - no worries. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Kewl beans... WKE235
GNN -- For all the News that we want to print, turn to GNN. A tragic story out of the Zendo Mar Hierarchy today. In what officials are calling a freak accident, 193 of the Hierarchy's top fighter pilots died while intercepting an unarmed alien vessel which had broached their space. In what should have been a routine interception, 300 fighters approached the vessel, only to have fighters begin to unexpectedly explode. Fearing that the ship had some unknown weapon, the fighters attacked acting in self defense. By battles end 193 fighters had been lost, and the intruding colony ship was destroyed with all hands and colonists lost. It was only after the battle, while inspecting debris to determine what destroyed the fighters, that the real cause was discovered. An incorrect sign placed in a line of code in the fighters computers resulted in the ships engines attempting to go into full reverse thrust the moment the ships hit maximum forward speed, with a fireball being the result. Officials are continuing to investigate how such a coding error could have gotten into the system. Critics of the Zendo Mar's economic programs point out that the coding was outsourced to an offworld low cost bidder, who in turn sub-contracted parts of the coding to numerous other worlds, and hence coding errors were inevitable. They have pointed out one sub-contractor may have had contracts with neferious races such as the Eyre or Go'uld, putting at risk the programming for the entire fleet. The investigation continues. Paradigm
I was wondering where the sudden influx of cheap "Zendor" brand 'like new" Strike Fighters on gBay came from. Looking closely now, that 'r' seem to be in a different font. The Phoenix has a Point Defense rating. Hey Pete, are you sure you didn't get a variable swapped and are having people shoot down their own fighters?

ali-t-akua
Is it possible those fighters were never delivered and the explosions were faked to cover up corruption in the procurement department? Has anyone ever seen these Flying Snake people or heard from them? General I would think you would want to do more investigation.
RTGPete
The fighters never died! Ever on the prowl to find a way to procure some time off for a rousing game of Fizzbin, the pilots managed to magnetically lock their craft onto the outside hull of the Phoenix. They were given away when one of them got quite drunk and began shooting his point defense laser at some garbage that had been ejected from the Phoenix. The entire complement of pilots was subsequently court-martialed and sentenced to 30 days without alcohol. This harsh punishment seems to have done the trick, after which the lot of them began conducting themselves in a much more professional manner..... And thanks for spreading the word Pete. I guess we now know the depth of Kurrasier's perfidy. I am sure the alcohol came from a local StarBar. Hopefully every empire that uses fighters will take heed of the fiendish plot. It would seem to be better than a CIDS at reducing fighter damage. I will assume the problem that caused them to dissappear has been corrected but you know what they say about assuming.
